Feature Issue " Beat The Christmas Budget"

    November issue has come with it's challenges as we have had a virus chew away at our computer. We are pleased to say that, although we thought we would be at least a week late, it is only two days late.

   This issue has seen Samanth Lo, who is usually behind our camera, meet the challenge of putting together her first issue of Good Gabble. When I set her the task of being in charge of our Beat The Budget Christmas Feature she was a little bit hesitant but faced up to the challenge and has produced a 22 page issue that I am sure all will enjoy. Congratulations Samantha!

 Inside our feature issue you will find handy hints that are sure to make your festive season brighter and leave a few extra dollars in your pocket. The girls from 4 Ingredients share their secrets to a successful Christmas, providing us with some yummy recipes. We have not forgotten our vegan readers with a double page spread of recipes suitable for the Christmas feast. There are heaps of ideas for homemade Christmas presents, ways to recycle your Christmas cards and turn them into worthwhile items and of course a page to get the kids celebrating.

   We have not forgotten all our regular features and contributors as this month, once again, we provide two newzines for the price of one. In our regular issue Donald Marmara speaks of Success, Failure and Motivation, we meet photographer Ralph Meznar, we visit Indonesia in our Feel Good Photo's and children's author Joel Hart introduces us to life as a writer and his new book Zoe's Puppy. For the chocolate lover we look at the benefits of chocolate, but who really needs an excuse to eat it, and we introduce our new regular page, Comfort Corner.

    November see's another jam packed issue full of love, positivity and a whole lot of fun.

       As the months pass Good Gabble only continues to grow with this issue containing 50 pages. Thank you to our supporters, old and new, from around the globe. It would not be possible without you.

    We are pleased to announce that from this month on Good Gabble will be printed on recycled paper, taking us one step closer to achieve our goal of a better world.   September also sees the start of a new regular feature where we will be sharing thoughts, feelings and messages from the Good Gabble Community.   4 Ingredients is back with us this month sharing news of their fourth cookbook which sees them combine their culinary skills with the nutritional principles of Deepak Chopra. They also share their recipe for Indian Chickpea and Potato Patties, sure to please the whole family.

   This issue we meet Elizabeth Mellor on our Oozing Art page and Sandra Kay of Matters of the Heart Vol 1 shares a note. We celebrate Sustainable House Day with Roger Leang who takes us on a journey through his carbon neutral home. Blake Beattie helps us bounce back through hard times and we continue following the journey of running pink.

   All this plus much much more as we embrace another month with good thoughts and positivity.

September Brain Buster

Question
There were 4 people sitting in a row, trying to win $50 from a riddle.

The one in front was wearing a red hat.
The second from the front was wearing a blue hat.
The third from the front was wearing a red hat.
The last was wearing a blue hat and is blind-folded.

Each of them were informed that they are all wearing a hat, the last person is blind-folded and that there are 2 red and 2 blue hats. if they can guess the color of their hat, then they win the prize.

There was a long silence, then one of them guessed the color of his hat correctly. Who was it?

(note that they can only see the person in front of them and are not allowed to turn around and see behind them.)


Answer
It was the second person. The first and last person cannot see other people at all, therefore it is either the third or second. The second person realised that if he and the person in front were wearing the same colored hat, the third person would be able to answer the color of his hat right away. However, since there was a long silence, then the color of the his hat and the person in front must be different.

August issue

       August sees the winter weather chill our bones and the sun sleep in each day. There is no better time than the current to grab a copy of August Good Gabble, light the fire, grab a cuppa and curl up on the lounge, brightening a dull day with rays of positivity.

Taken by Thom Stovern, husband of Caravan Chef Eva Stovern, it shows the streets that line the roads in Grafton NSW.  Keep your eye on future issues of Good Gabble for further photo's taken by Thom and articles by Eva, as they support us in our endeavour to fill the world with positivity.


  Inside our August issue Ron Prasad talks of Life Coaching and its role within our lives. We meet Tanya Pearson and Bears of Comfort. We meet those who have been touched by the work she is doing providing cuddles from our angels. We learn of Heels With Wheels and meet founder Angela Irick. We learn of how her life was changed at the age of 14 when she was involved in a car accident which led to her being left a quadriplegic. She shares her journey through therapy and her hopes and dreams. She introduces us to her clothing range which is providing comfort and style to those with disabilities.


   This month we welcome aboard Lovatt's Puzzles and thank them for their support. Each month they will provide us with puzzles to stimulate our minds and keep our brains healthy. We also welcome Wicked Campers who we are sure will line the pages of many future issues of Good Gabble, sharing laughter, joy and a great time.


   Over the last month I was lucky enough to have a conversation with singer/song writer Sandi Thom who kindly answered my questions giving us an insight to her life and the person she is. On our oozing arts page we celebrate the art and illustrations of Teresa Culkin Lawrence and learn of her new shop situated in Victoria.  Carlos Devillalvilla, our American Correspondent, reviews the movie Toy Story 3 and Debbie Higgs from Palmer Higgs Publishing gives us an insight into the new book 'An Eventful Life - Stories of Eventing Champions' by Alison Duthie.


  Of course there are still all of our regular articles and heaps of competitions to keep you busy.

July - A celebration of half a year of Good Gabble Newzine

  July sees us celebrating 6 months of Good Gabble. What a journey! The support has been amazing and without this support I would not be writing this. A huge thank you to all our contributors, those who have donated some wonderful prizes and subscribers. We hope you have enjoyed the journey as much as we have and look forward to having you on board for a lot longer.

June Issue Out Now!

   Our June issue brings us to the beginning of winter, a time when we often feel down and depressed with the dreariness of the cold and damp. Time to grab a copy of Good Gabble, a warm drink, the cosy dooner and cheer yourself up reading a dose of positivity.

  This month brings SIDS and Kids Red Nose Day on Friday 25th June. For this reason we have chosen SIDS and Kids as our feature organisation, showing our support and encouraging our readers to put their hand in their pocket and show their support.

  Donald Maramara kindly shares with us his story of a personal struggle with anxiety and depression whilst Eva Stovern, Caravan Chef, shares a recipe from her book Caravan Chef 2. She has kindly donated a copy of the book for one lucky reader to win.

  We catch up with Deborah De Williams as she continues her trip on foot around Australia raising money for breast cancer. Each month we will continue to support Deborah and keep our readers up to date on how much she has raised and where she will be for the month.

  In oozing art we meet Streamlyne ( Joshua Lynagh ) who is taking the hip hop scene by surprise with his awesome vocals and strong message.

   Last month Kelly Azuma spoke to us about Reiki and its power of healing. This month we catch up with Kelly as she discusses the three Clairs of Clairvoyance. Almost everyone guesses three. Why? It seems that the brain cannot correctly process the word "OF". The letter F usually makes the "f" sound, like in "fox". However, in the word "of", it makes a "v" sound. Somehow, your brain overlooks the word "of" as it scans for the sound of "f".

What's in our May issue?

     Our May issue has turned out to be our biggest and best yet. With the support and interest in Good Gabble only growing this issue is a whopping 40 pages.

  Late in April we had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing Deborah De Williams who is not only an inspiration to many but a person with determination and a wonderful disposition. Deborah is running around Australia raising money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Having survived breast cancer herself, along with two broken feet on her first attempt, she hopes to finish her run in March 2011 having covered 17,621 kilometres. You can read more about Deborah, her journey and our interview this month in Good Gabble. We will continue to follow Deborah each month keeping our readers up to date on her journey and the money she raises. We wish Deborah all the best and look forward to supporting her great cause.

  Each month Good Gabble is presented to our readers in the form of a newzine. This month we look at what a zine is and how it differs from a magazine. We introduce our readers to the underworld of zines and zinesters. This article can also be found in the discussion section of our facebook group where we are currently running a poll on the presentation of Good Gabble.
